Building Independence Through Mealtimes Β
At Little Learners Day Nursery, we love supporting children to grow in confidence and independence β and mealtimes are a wonderful opportunity for this!

Children are given daily chances to prepare their own snacks, such as spreading butter onto crackers or chopping fruit. These small steps not only build independence but also strengthen fine and gross motor skills, which are the foundations for early writing. 
Independence is encouraged at every stage of their journey:
Babies learn to scoop food into their mouths.
Toddlers begin using serving utensils, putting out cups and meal mats.
Preschoolers help their friends, serve food, and even set up mealtimes by themselves.Β
Itβs been amazing to see how much the children enjoy these new experiences, taking pride in helping themselves and others while developing lifelong skills.
